
One of the largest automotive dealership groups in Indiana has expanded to the Chicago market with the purchase of a family-owned dealership in Palatine. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
In a deal that closed Dec. 15, the Vicari family sold Arlington Toyota at 2095 N. Rand Road to Andy Mohr Automotive Group.
The Vicari family — including second-generation siblings Scott, Gary and Tracey — has owned Arlington Toyota since its founding by Tony Vicari in 1983. They sold the business with 100 employees to retire, according to Ryan Kerrigan, managing partner of Kerrigan Advisors, who represented the seller in the transaction.
The dealership name will not change, Kerrigan said, and there are no plans for upgrades to the 13-acre property, which includes 800 feet of freeway frontage and a 125,000-square-foot showroom and maintenance facility.
“The buyer wanted to expand with Toyota, so it made its first purchase in this market,” said Kerrigan. “Toyota is a very sought-after franchise for auto dealers — their dealerships are typically very successful and profitable.”
